    Why does lubricating oil age

    The factors causing the aging of lubricating oil include: gas influence, additive disappearance, oil oxidation, decomposition, light component evaporation, solid effect, lubricant manufacturer agent, liquid influence and radiation effect.

    1、 The existence of water in lubricating oil will act with additives in oil to promote its decomposition and cause equipment corrosion. During the normal operation of the unit, the tightness of the shaft seal is affected, and the steam leakage of the shaft seal runs into the bearing chamber along the shaft, which is the root cause of water inflow in the oil.

    b. The shaft seal teeth are lodging and the sealing effect is reduced, resulting in water in the oil. In the process of adjusting the radial clearance of shaft seal, the radial clearance of shaft seal is too small, which makes the sharp teeth of shaft seal collide with the rotor due to rotor expansion and shaft system vibration during the start-up process of the unit, and the sharp teeth fall down and the sealing effect is reduced, resulting in shaft seal steam leakage and steam flowing into the bearing chamber along the shaft.

    c. The excessive steam supply pressure of shaft seal into steam header makes the shaft seal chamber become positive pressure, resulting in shaft seal leakage.

    d. The suction pressure of the shaft seal steam extractor is insufficient, and the suction pipe is blocked, resulting in insufficient negative pressure, which causes the steam to escape along the shaft and cause the shaft seal steam leakage.

    e. The suction effect of the turning gear or the coupling wheel turns the air blast, causing the local negative pressure in the bearing box and sucking in the steam. In addition, the output of the exhaust fan of the main oil tank is too large, which increases the negative pressure of the bearing chamber, makes the shaft seal leak steam, and is easier to enter the lubricating oil system.

    3、 It is also related to the emulsifying performance of turbine oil. Turbine oil additives are mostly compounds or mixtures with certain surface activity. In the molecular structure of these substances, one end is a non-polar group with lipophilic property, and the other end is a hydrophilic polar group with certain surface activity. Although they are all dissolved in oil but not in water, the polar groups have a certain affinity for water at a certain speed, which increases the difficulty of oil-water separation and promotes oil emulsification.

    4、 Stir vigorously. While the steam turbine and the emulsion oil are stirred at high speed. At this time, the hydrophilic polar group has the opportunity to fully affinity with water, when the affinity is large, it will be firmly combined with water. And because the lipophilic non-polar group can be dissolved in the oil, the water and oil can be combined together through the action of this substance. Therefore, water cannot be separated from oil at this time.



    The normal oil pressure of automobile engine is the prerequisite and necessary condition to ensure the sufficient and good lubrication between the friction parts of the engine. When the engine is running, the fluctuation of engine oil pressure will be affected once the internal fault occurs.     5.
